‘I’ve always thought of myself as a painter derailed by circumstances’ Joni Mitchel
I came across this quote a while ago while enjoying Joni’s art and music. Fascinated I began to explore the artistic side talent of this great musician that I’m ashamed to say I was not fully aware of! When I began looking at her art work the richly colourful lyrics became even more vivid. I’ve recently re-started painting after years of neglect and was interested in her story. Check out for yourself.

Joni gave me the inspiration to further my ventures back into the joy of painting. In the past I’d painted in a rather formal way (landscapes, still life’s etc) This time, however, I was keen to experiment, to try out something completely new and create really original pieces. Pulling on my experience as a musician I began exploring emotions and abstract thoughts arising from the influences of music. I work with block canvas (the larger the better!) and presently am using mainly acrylics. This is serious fun and I hope you may take a look at some of the efforts in the ‘Gallery’ Enjoy!
